The Official CIR Site.

The site has been down for a bit, I think and I just recently checked it and noticed. It’s all fixed, obviously since I’m posting this. It was something that I didn’t even think would happen when I was cleaning up my web host account.  I haven’t been feeling the greatest and haven’t really been working on much of anything. I’ve been thinking about what I’m going to do with myself over the long term. Life unfortunately has got in the way.

Ontario elections are coming up and I hope anyone that’s in Ontario and reads this goes out to vote. It’s important, no matter who you vote for. Even if you just spoil it, it is important to go! So either hit the advanced polls or on October 6th, make sure to vote!

The simple sharing app I added a while ago isn’t displaying right in firefox. I tried a couple different ones and they all seem, on the first post of the page, to leave a big blank area at the bottom. In internet explorer it is fine but firefox 3.x and 4.x it leaves this big gap. For now I’m going to turn it off until I can figure out what’s wrong and how I can fix it, or let the developer of the app know about it and have them roll out an update to fix it.

I’ve added some CIR external links to the site in the contact us box at the top and a collection of links at the bottom left. These are for all CIR related materials outside of this site. They are all run by me and would be considered “Official”. All the music posted there can be downloaded here with the exception of the members section music which is only found here if you have a forum account and are logged in. That’s all for the site updates. The theme is running strong and the new traffic stats are working well. Now on to the good stuff!

The next remix I’ve been working on in the FacePalm collection is Ke$ha’s Tik Tok. I burned the first cut to disc yesterday to listen to in my car for more mixing tips and track ideas. I have a busy week this coming week but I’ll  try and get it into the members section on the forum by the end of Feb. There are still some changes that I want to make to the track before I publish it for people to download but it’s almost there! If you want to get a copy of Ke$ha – Tik Tok (CIR FacePalm Remix) early, all you do is need to sign up for a forum account, login and go to the members section. I’ll have it up there for at least a week, maybe a bit longer.

To address the poll for the next remix: I know I said that I’d put one up so that everyone can have input into the next remix I do and I haven’t yet. The reason I haven’t is that there are no tracks currently in the top 40 that I’d want to remix. As soon as there are some tracks I wouldn’t mind doing or if I decide to go back in time, I’ll put the poll up right away. Keep a look out for it.

There are many updates to report at this time!
First off, there is a new track online for everyone to download in the music section called “The Taste of Your Lips”. It’s a recent track that I’ve been working on that is now complete.

Next up, I’ve updated the entire site on the back end for the new version of wordpress. The old hacked together theme is now updated to meet the current standards for wordpress themes including all the page templates. The look hasn’t changed, but the functionality has.

Thirdly, the search is back! After finishing the template files, the search is now usable!

Lastly. I went back through a bunch of posts and added in tags to them. I’ve added a tag cloud page at the top just to help filter through the posts and to help get keywords out there. I’ll be using tags along with categories in the future on posts for filtering and keywording purposes.

I’ve done some small site updates in preparation in adding more Face Palm pop industrialized mixes to the site and the poll for an upcoming mix. I’ve added in more links and updated some pages for current content and added in better file management. Enjoy the added content and features added.
Soon, likely this week, the Gwen Stefani mix and Katy Perry mix will be online in the members section in the forum followed closely by a poll of pop songs to be mixed. I’m going to be doing another mix while the poll runs to give time for people to vote on what track to mix. That should give enough time to get a good sample size on the poll for the track selection. I hope that the direct feedback will work out and that the future will bring other direct fan feedback into the music creation process. Involving fans directly into the creative process is something I’m very interested in pursuing.

I’ve been having issues with bots signing up on the site and forums recently. I’ve blocked people from signing up on the main site to comment on my posts because the discussions should be done in the forum rather then on the main site. It also saves people from having to sign up for 2 different accounts and would miss all the benefits of being a forum member.

As for the forum, I’ve employed all the security measures that I can to try and stop bots from registering and posting up garbage. However, it has only slowed down registrations. I’ve put up a post in the site help section regarding this. What I’ve had to resort to doing is manually looking over all new accounts and deleting the ones that look suspicious. If you are registering a new account, please activate it right away, then read the topic in the site help on account deletion to avoid having yours removed. Basically if it looks like a real account, I won’t remove it. The more info put into the profile, the more real it looks. If you follow the suggestions in the thread, your account will be safe.

I’m sorry for having to resort to this, but it’s the best I can do for now. If a solution becomes available in the future, I’ll remove the post and not have to worry about this anymore. So for now, please stick with it and if your account is removed, I’m very sorry and please sign up again and put more info into your profile.

So I think I’ve finished the wordpress theme. I went over all of it a couple times, cleaned up the coding for it and spaced it nice. There doesn’t appear to be any errors that I’ve seen so far. If anyone sees anything that’s an issue, please comment this or message me on the forum so I can fix it right away. For now I’m going to roll out with this. Damn that was a fair amount of work but it was well worth it. I’m going to scan the files over again then submit them to a couple theme sites and I’ll host the files here for fan sites (ahahhhahah would be nice )

There isn’t much other news as I’ve been working on this and the new project for Ascended Entertainment. Again, details for this are, I’ve been hired to, well my title is sound engineer! So basically I’m doing all the sounds and music! There is another guitar track to lay down for Monday’s Poison and I’ve got some further mixing to do for another track and that’s that for the demo – Electro-cute the world. I’ll be putting up the image for it soon.

As always, sign up on the boards and get access to the members section for advanced previews and other goodies before I move them to the main site.

I have hacked together some php files for the theme and will be working on it tonight when I’m at work. Updates will happen from 2am EST to 6am EST saturday dec 1. If the site looks messed up, I know about it and am probably working on it at that time. I tested it a bit this morning and was getting a few things sorted out but I’m off to bed and will try and finish all I can tonight. If I don’t get it all, I’ll comment this for when I’ll be working on it again.

I’m in the middle of moving over to work press. All the content is moved over, I just have to do up a nice theme for it. Old news posts that were on the old site are in the news section in the forum. I’ll be redoing the news section in the forum and post up news using wordpress. From there I’m not sure if I’ll have commenting on or cross post in the boards. There will be some plugins to install for wordpress and I might need to make some sort of auto cross posting from the news forum to the front page maybe. There will be design changes to the front page and the forums as well.
